What We Do
The King’s School provides quality Christian education in Langley, BC from preschool to grade 12.
For 40+ years, parents have been drawn to The King’s School for its commitment to Christ, excellent staff, caring community, and beautiful 23-acre location.
Enrolment at The King’s School has surged in the past two years. This year, there are 254 students on the property, including preschool, which is close to 95% capacity.
We do a have few enrolment spots in various grades. Feel free to call the office and ask for Lisa or Kathy. If you encounter a waiting list, don’t give up. If The King’s School is where you want your children educated, please persist. Our admissions page provides more details and enrolment procedures.
Mission: Knowing, Showing,
& Enjoying God
The above mission statement guides The King’s School community to humbly embrace what many call the chief end of man: “To glorify God and enjoy him forever.”
-
… by discovering Christ in all areas of life and learning.
And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent (John 17:3).
-
… by sharing their discoveries.
You are the light of the world. … let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:14–16).
-
… by delighting in His gifts.
You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).
Vision: Hold Fast
Our vision statement turns our eyes to our students. First, the word “fast” needs clarification:
fast [adverb]: so as to be hard to move; securely. “The ship was held fast by the anchor chain.”
-
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life… (Philippians 2:14–16)
-
In the midst of a confused generation, seeing students who shine brightly in their thoughts, relationships, and pursuits by holding fast to the word of life.
-
Hold Fast!
Core Values: Community, Christ-like Character,
& Creation Care
Being rooted and built up in Christ is a process that practically expresses itself in three core values at The King’s School:
-
Knowing our identity is in Christ and building God-honouring relationships within the school family.
“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” (Romans 12:4-5) -
Showing thankfulness, forgiveness, humility, and the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. (Ephesians 5:1)
-
We steward what God has given us by enjoying and caring for all God’s creation—students, staff, structures, and surroundings.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
FEATURES
Our families come from a variety of churches in the Langley area. Yet, from preschool to grade 12, we want each student to encounter the basic gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We do this, in part, by following a common framework of learning that:
incorporates the big ideas of the gospel,
builds biblical competencies appropriate for each grade level, and
emphasizes “hiding” God’s Word in the heart (i.e, memorizing and internalizing).
Bible: Curricular Goals
“From earth’s wide bounds and ocean’s farthest coast,
Through gates of pearl, streams in the countless host.
Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: Hallelujah, hallelujah!”
(Hymn: For All The Saints)
We love the flavour of the TKS community. From China to Korea, Russia to the Ukraine, Africa to South America, and all parts in between, we are privileged to welcome God’s people from around the planet and to provide a safe haven to those who are oppressed.
We are proud of the skill and care demonstrated by our English Language Learning department to allow students to let their “English” personalities emerge as quickly as possible.
Cultural Riches
The King’s School Community delights in being located on 23 acres of beautiful property. The portion used by our students provides unique opportunities to develop environmental appreciation, skills, and attitudes by enjoying the:
Gardens
Apiary
Orchard (newly planted)
Nature Trails
Environmental Care
ProTECHt (info tech protocol)
As educators, we want to see our students become information technology experts. We are very pro-tech.
Also as educators, we are called to protect the learning environment. And, as stewards of our parents’ children, we are called to protect our students’ spiritual, social, mental, and physical well-being.
Accordingly, our new ProTECHt protocol began in February 2024 with two major thrusts:
Instead of high school students bringing personal mobile devices (laptops) to school, we now provide students with Chromebooks in each classroom that requires them (which is most classrooms). The school-issued Chromebooks are carefully managed on multiple levels. This system transforms the nature of a laptop from being a device of distraction to an essential tool of learning.
To further protect the learning environment from distractions, students’ cell phones, smartwatches, and other internet-aware devices are left at home.
Great schools depend on great educators. The King’s School is blessed by its energetic, devoted, and caring team of educational professionals.
