Our Mission & Heart
We have a new Mission to inspire us on, with the same Heart that brought us together.
Simply, the essence of The King’s School is captured in our new motto:
Knowing, Showing, and Enjoying God.
This short phrase reveals why the school was started back in 1982 and why it continues today.
Our Approach to Christian Education
It all starts with God
The Word of God proclaims Jesus Christ to be the beginning of all things. Education falls into the realm of His kingdom and care.
”All things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him, all things hold together.”
This preeminence of Christ promises to make all education at The King's School exciting, investigative, and extremely valuable.
“…in [Christ] are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Your Child is His
We see students as whole people – academically, spiritually, emotionally, physically and socially – created by God and cherished by Him. We appreciate the unique gifting of each child and desire to help every child discover the Lord’s purpose for their life. The King’s School serves parents in their entrusted roles, equipping children toward the good works He has prepared for each one to accomplish.
”For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
More than just a subject
‘Bible’ is not merely a subject to slot into the timetable. Scripture must be and is the foundation on which we build curriculum, teach, correct and train our students. While we are dedicated to excellence in academics, The King’s School ensures that Biblical truth shapes their thinking and is sprinkled throughout their day.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness…”
—2 Timothy 3:16
Community with Purpose
The King’s School is a community of gifted educators, committed parents, and children brimming with potential, all united with a purpose of Knowing, Showing and Enjoying God!
Our diverse community, consisting of all ages (K-12) interacting on one campus, provides opportunities for service, thereby equipping the next generation with a heart for serving the Lord in their future careers, families, and communities.
Together, we see and experience God’s love, we know He has a purpose for each person on campus, we share what we see with one another, and delight in this life-changing reality!
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forever.”
Taking the classroom outside
Children are inspired by the beautiful campus that serves as an everyday reminder of an amazing Creator. We are blessed with this stunning 23 acre property in Langley, and daily discover the fingerprints of God all over it! The children love outdoor play, and view the fields, trees, and forest as a giant playground waiting to be explored. The world and everything in it is His, and we want the children to be out enjoying, learning, and caring for it as an act of worship.
The desire to explore is not limited to children; many of our teachers love to take the learning outside, enjoying nature walks with their class and utilizing different corners of the campus as outdoor classrooms. You will also find classes tending to the school garden, caring for bunnies, raising egg-laying chickens, and enjoying calves that visit from our wonderful dairy-farming neighbors from time to time. Expect to leave a pair of boots at school for your child; they go out rain or shine!
“All the earth worships You and sings praises to You; they sing praises to your name.”
Our energetic and accomplished team of new administrators is ready and thrilled to bring this new Mission to life at The King’s School. You can be confident placing your children into the competent hands of our team of teachers, led by this dynamic quartet.
Tim, Laura, Charlaine and Stephanie desire that all who step on our campus in Langley would know God more deeply. It is their aim to see the love of God worked out through all aspects of school life, and will be their delight to rejoice with the community at the many wonders each school year brings.
Day at a Glance
The school day begins at 8.20 am, and concludes at 3.00pm.
We don’t merely add a few Christian components to the timetable. The whole life of the school centres on God’s glory. The daily patterns are structured to that end. The curriculum doesn’t just teach Bible as a stand-alone subject, but teaches children to analyze information, assess it and apply it through a Biblical perspective.
Days begin and end with a devotional time in class. This sets the context for the whole of the day, so that whether in Humanities class or Phys. Ed. class, students and teachers express their devotion to God in their thinking and their behavior. These times are not just book-ends of the day; God’s Word is at the heart of all we do.
Weekly K-12 assemblies; monthly CLAN (multi-age school groups bringing family together) activities and other fun ‘days’ are sprinkled into the calendar.
Students learn in an integrated manner, in terms of both applying what is learned from one subject to another, and also developing a Biblical worldview that shapes the students’ attitudes to their whole school life.
Our facilities, in addition to regular classrooms, include a well-equipped science lab, a computer lab with 40 work stations (to which students at every grade level have access), a Technology Education Workshop, a kitchen for Home Economics, a library with over 10,000 books as well as computer and internet access, a gym and sports field. A 23-acre wooded campus, with a walking trail and play areas for younger children, and a greenhouse and vegetable garden, also provide wonderful educational opportunities as well as a peaceful setting within which to enjoy the education experience.
Classroom field trips vary every year, but some are regulars: salmon hatchery, hikes, Missionsfest, Davis (Dairy) Farm, and the Intermediate ski program, to name a few!
Missions Teams from The King’s School have been mobilized and sent out to Mexico, Uganda, India, Slovakia, Africa and many more places around the globe! We have also had outreach teams in our local community. This is all part of Showing God to others!
Students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 enjoy life as part of an integrated community.
With our Elementary, Middle and High School all on one campus, children often see and interact with their siblings through the day. Our families love this!
Whether in lunch-time group activities, CLAN activities, or with our buddy system (in which older students are paired up with children in lower grades) we make every effort to foster a community spirit.
From oldest to youngest, the children know one another by name. This is a very precious aspect of our close community. You often see the younger children run up to the older students who warmly embrace them with affection! With young eyes watching, the older students naturally encounter many opportunities for servant leadership. What children gain from these interactions, on both ends, goes with them beyond their schooling years.
Our community is far reaching- we’ve been around for almost 40 years! Read testimonials from parents, students, staff and alumni to better sense what our community is all about.
We strive to create a genuine sense of community with a number of social activities: sporting events, pancake breakfasts, bake sales, work parties, a spring fair, and prayer times, for example.
Check us out on Instagram and Facebook: it’s a great place to get an inside look at student life at TKS, see events, reminders, and even access weekly Bible memory verses for memorization practice. Both offer fun ways to interact with our stories, posts, and community!
Parents are welcome in the school at all times.
We value our parents’ input. The administration comes alongside parents in the training of their children, and with this in mind, the door is always open to address parents’ concerns.
Parent volunteers opportunities abound: hot lunch events, fundraising, reading in classrooms, baking projects or craft projects with classes, career sharing, gardening, field trips, Adopt-a-Street program for our local roads, holiday events, community meals, and property maintenance.
Teachers strive to make themselves available to parents.
The board holds regular Parents Meetings to communicate with parents about upcoming projects and other items of importance.
Children instantly benefit from this natural equalizer.
Reduces pressures surrounding appearances, minimizes social distractions, and saves time when thinking of what to wear that day!
The initial investment is an overall savings through the year. Purchasing a handful of quality pieces will prove its durability over fashion-wear items within the first year.
Easy purchasing: shop online or at the retail location. A Fit Day is also scheduled on campus.
Creates understanding that all eventual careers have some form of uniform/dress code.
Builds a sense of community identity. Students young and old alike share in this sense of unity: we are a school family.
